I saw the first movie before I read the books and I wasn't actually able to plow through the first. SOOOO slow. I sometimes think Tolkien set out to write a history book or a WWII allegory instead of an adventure story. LOVE the movies however. The adaptation is faithful to the books by choosing the very best parts and expanding them while skipping over the dry parts. And, you are totally right. Viggo Mortensen's Aragorn is all that and a bag of chips. <br /><br />I do love Harry Potter. . . .<br /><br />So many wonderful books.
