I absolutely loved your testimony here and appreciated reading your cherished thoughts about Christ and happiness. Our attitudes have a lot to do with our perceived quality of life, don't they? I just might pull up this page next time I am invited to give a talk...Rachelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02118008716597470345noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6120734625222765421.post-30099835670606399822008-10-30T11:22:00.000-06:002008-10-30T11:22:00.000-06:00What a beautiful and simple testimony. And I agree the minister's remarks were absolutely true (and something I would even use in a talk on the subject) I just wish there had been doctrine on Christ in the answer.

Thanks for the other thoughts as well.

And yes she rocked as a red head.Courtneyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04986527567693226393noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6120734625222765421.post-4790140276402701742008-10-29T10:48:00.000-06:002008-10-29T10:48:00.000-06:00Much to think about. His suggestion, while light on "heavy" gospel doctrine, boils down Jesus' core teachings into a few simple sentences. Inasmuch as ye have done it unto the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Your comments are, of course, wonderful. Too bad you aren't invited to join Gwenyth's blog! (Wasn't she adorable as a red-head, by the way?) As a missionary I was always amazed that two 21 year old women-girls (or 19 year old man-boys for that matter) could have more truth than all the teachers of religion. I remember talking with so many people who had immense amounts of knowledge and NO revelation or testimony. I met a minister who had philosophized himself right out of a belief in a Messianic Jesus, as the bible record was too hazy for "proof." We told him about the Book of Mormon--a second witness. He scoffed at our naivety.

And though it is oft-quoted, the following bears mention (from President Benson), "The Lord works from the inside out. The world works from the outside in. The world would take people out of the slums. Christ takes the slums out of people, and then they take themselves out of the slums. The world would mold men by changing their environment. Christ changes men, who then change their environment. The world would shape human behavior, but Christ can change human nature."

The whole Ensign article that is the context of this quote is, in fact, wonderful. Read it here:

http://www.lds.org/ldsorg/v/index.jsp?vgnextoid=2354fccf2b7db010VgnVCM1000004d82620aRCRD&locale=0&sourceId=419327cd3f37b010VgnVCM1000004d82620a____&hideNav=1

The "naive" answer to all the worlds ills.
