Here is another excellent website for letterboxing that Green Jello just turned me on to. From what I can tell it does a very good job of sorting through active letterboxes so hopefully you will not end up searching for one that no longer exists.

The other nice thing about searching on AtlasQuest is that you can search by miles away from a certain point, or find letterboxes "nearby" a particular one. So if you're traveling to get a letterbox, hit the "nearby boxes", and you'll get a whole list of boxes by the original one. Great feature. :)
