Every year I have such grand ideas about how I'm going to spend the entire month of December celebrating Christmas and then before I know it it is December 26th and I've hardly done a thing--except curse the Christmas crowds and the weather. This year will be different, though, as this year I am planning on planning.
The first round of planning: Christmas movies I want to see (at home--may later make a list of movies I want to see in the theater this Christmas Season). My mom, two sisters, and I sat down and composed this list of Christmas movies (Christmas movies being a loosely defined term):

Family Stone doesn't exactly leave me with a pleasant, Christmasy feeling, you know? Love Actually is on approximately 85.4 times during the month of December. You could DVR it. I always think of the Harry Potter movies as Christmasy, but they really aren't. The just show them over and over again during the holidays. (See the weekend ABC Family schedule if you doubt me.) I LOVE the Cutting Edge, though I never thought of it as a seasonal show. I kind of liked The Santa Clause, though I never saw the second and third. What about Four Christmases? It came out last year, I think.
And we REALLY need to write that screenplay for Christmas Wrapping. It came up on my iPod again and I can just see the movie in my head. The actress in He's Just Not That Into You would be perfect.
That is quite a list! Some of my very favorites are on there like Serendipity, Elf, and a Charlie Brown Christmas. Did you have any version of the Nutcracker on there? I can't remember. And Harry Potter seems to be a Christmas movie to me too. I like the Santa Clause because it answers all the hard questions like, "we don't have a fireplace! How will Santa get in?" The 2nd and 3rd were not as good and I will only watch them if forced. Keep me updated on any must sees!
I LOVE the new Miracle on 34th Street. Love. (And by new, I mean. . .came out 15 years ago).
While you were sleeping. End of story. Just watch that one at least. I don't know why but it is a favorite in my family too.
Last year on Christmas Day we went to the downtown ice skating rink where they were showing various movies that included ice skating. We saw Holiday Inn which was fun, but we were embarrassed by the black face routine. We were just about only white people there!
What? You mention kids and there is no Veggie Tales Christmas movie on your list?

I don't know how we forgot The Santa Clause--should be easy to catch on TV as well--and we'll have to check out Four Christmases.
And STM I think you are right on about that actress--Ginnifer Goodwin right--she would be perfect. I listened to your cd while putting up my tree this year: perfect.
Jen--I'll have to look into The Nutcracker. And now that you mention it Harry Potter does feel a bit festive to me as well.

Oh! What about Miracle?
I love Christmas movies. One that my sister and I almost always watch is Little Women with Winona Ryder. Good list!
